MARCH 2020

Hi Olga,
which kind of Guitar Strings do you use for your telecaster?
Thank's? a lot!
Best Regards
(Hückelhoven, Germany)

Hi David
Well I did use Ernie Ball Regular Slinky, starting with a 10 on the top string, but then I had a bad batch so I moved to D’addario, then I moved to a heavier gauge starting with 11 (med top, heavy bottom) now I have moved back to Ernie Ball, but Power Slinkys, starting with an 11.

Hello Olga!!!!
My dad saw you guys in 1984 at the Olympic in L.A. when he was 17..and now he's taking me to your show feb 9 in Tilburg Holland!!!! (I'm 14) I want to know if you have any wives, kids or cats????
See you at the show! We're the 2 incredibly handsome ones, can't miss us....
Greetings and stuff,?

Hello Sam
I hope you enjoyed the Tilburg show!? And I remember the L.A show well.
I don't have cats or kids, I have you lot, that's enough for me!

Hi Olga!
I saw you in Lille Aeronef, it was great as usual!
Do you consider one day releasing the collection of yout LPS in vinyles
Would be great?
When are you back in France ?
See ya soon?
Envoyé de mon iPad

Hi Seb
Thank you, we really enjoyed Lille.
I believe that all the albums are available on vinyl already!
Back in France at Hellfest in June!
Hopefully more shows too!

Dear Olga,
After many years of listening to your music, I have been honoured to see you life in Poland. Amazing life show!!! Great feeling to hear and see you life on stage. Still the most energising music ever.?
The only regret that I was to far from the stage to get yellow glasses :-)))
For you to know my kids (7 and 10 years) are big fans of yours. Especially Nelie the elephant. Wish you at least another 40 years of activity.?
Marek Golda

Hi Marek
Thank you so much, the shows in Poland were totally crazy! We had a blast.
Greetings to your kids, sorry you weren’t lucky enough to get the yellow glasses!
Greetings to the kids! Not sure about another 40 years! Weeks possibly!

Hi dolls!
I haven't been to one of your shows for 25 years.
And after I missed you 2019 in my hometown I had to travel from Bavaria to Poland but it was worth it!
We're definitely?not getting to old for this, are we?
See you next year in Ulm!

Markus Hi
Cheers, glad you enjoyed Poland!
Ha, too old? You know it!
Cheers to you too

Hi Olga, my name is Walter and I am from Argentina. I study English on the Premier Skills English website and my task this week is to interview a famous person, I chose you.
I would love you to answer me, I have been listening to your songs for more than twenty six years, here they go:
- You're from South Shields, do you support Sunderland AFC or Newcastle?.
- What is your favorite Toy Dolls' song?.
- Are there musicians in your family?.
I should ask you only three questions but I want to know more :)
- What age did you start making music?.
Thank you very much and I hope to see you soon in my country. Take care.

Walter Hi
Greetings to Argentina.
26 years, wow! Not sure about a famous person!
1. Neither!
2. MMM, maybe Barry the Roofer
3. My older brother played guitar.
4. I was almost 14 when I started to learn guitar

hi olga
where did you get the two tone glasses from..on nelly vid
cheers rik

Hi Rik
I got those glasses from my old mate Neil, up in Sunderland, north east UK, about 38 years ago.
Not sure where they went to, and never seen a similar pair since. I am on the look out though, let me know if you find any!

Hello Olga,
Whatever happened to the red telecaster?

Patch from the USA hey!
That guitar didn't sound so good to be honest, not sure why! It had the pickup changed to a Seymour Duncan, but it still didn't sound quite right, got rid!

Hi it's Maurice from Manchester can't wait to see you on 17 April next year I have been a fan of you since I seen you on top of the Pop's with Nelly The Elephant. Your a brilliant guitarist my question how long was it you knew you were a very quick guitarist and did it come naturally or did you work on being a quick guitarist. Thanks once again your amazing to watch playing

Hi Maurice
Thank you!
Ha, cheers, I am still learning actually, still along way to go!
See ya in Manchester!

Dear Olga!
Thank you for an amazing show in Malmo last Saturday! I’m have been a great fan all of my life and I saw my first Toy Dolls show in Malmo 89 when I was eleven years old and it meant the world to me! There is where I got the play list which you signed for me.
This is perhaps the wrong kind of Olga question but I lost my “Building Block Badge” which I got for my thirteen years old. I hoped I could order from the website but it is on sale on tour. Will it be on sale afterwards or are my chances best to try for the competition?
Sorry to bother you..
Felt great to right a fan mail though!
Kind regards and best of luck on the rest of your tour!

Olof Hi
I am pleased you enjoyed Malmo! We did also!
Sorry you lost your badge, pins etc may be added to the webshop at a later date, keep checking!
Many thanks

Hello Olga!
I hope you are?doing well. I just wanted to tell you how much your music means to me.?
I am a piano teacher, and I started listening to Toy Dolls when I was 14. I remember doing my music theory homework in music high school, while listening to Toy Dolls. It always helped! :)
I grew up in Serbia (you have a lot of fans over there, especially?in the Northern part), but I live in Canada now. So I was wondering do you have any plans for coming to Canada soon??
Thank you for being such a unique band, and for your hard work during all these?years.?
Happy 40th anniversary! And many more to come! Cheers!
Greetings from Toronto, Canada!

Thank you so much
Good that we helped with yer music theory!
Canada was amazing when we were there in 2018, I really hope we can get back, lovely friendly people.

Hi Olga...... was wondering with the South Shields Gig selling out in 15min,? if you were considering another show while in the area, because it would surely sell out... Cheers?

Hi Graham
We wanted to keep the shows intimate, makes for a better gig, but we added a big one in London for anyone who couldn't get tickets for the other shows
We have added Edinburgh now too, I know quite a few people are going from the north east.
Hope to see ya there!

Hi Olga, big fan of you since 1989.?
Have you got a dog? If so what breed? No dog? WHAAAAT!!!
lol, XXX Lisa

Lisa Hi,
No Dogs, Cats or Kids! Just you lot!
I do love dogs though!

Hello Olga!?
Ben from Paris here.
Hope you're doing fine!
I didn't read all the questions from "ask Olga" since the beginning so, sorry if my questions have already been asked.
- I wonder what you think of the punk rock scene in US, bands like Bad Religion, Nofx, Rancid... Are you listening to some of them, or get inspired, or if you are in touch with them...
- I don't know if you feel it, but there's always something special when you play "Alec's Gone" or "Toccata" in concert... Do you think you will play some more songs from the absurd-ditties/orcastrated era?
I guess these songs are more difficult to play live, and somehow needs several guitars, but how amazing would it be to listen to "my wifes a psycho" or "drooling banjos live!!!!!
PS: i think orcastrated is as good as absurd-ditties (harry's hands: best solo ever)
Went to see you live in Paris 3 times in the past few years and i hope there will be more.
Episode XIII is very good, the more i listen to it, the more i enjoyed it! Congratulations.
Anyway, thank you for everything, you make life easier for us, keep smiling, keep rocking. Love you guys.
See ya!!!

Hi Ben
I am fine thank you!
I do listen to those bands occasionally, I like Social Distortion, but I think I am more inspired by the early UK bands, like The Jam.
Yes we know the guys from Bad Relgion & NoFX, Rancid etc, all nice lads.
We used to play Drooling Banjos for a while, My wife’s a psychopath didn't work live unfortunately, nice on the record though!
Orcastrated production lets it down.
Yep, I am also very happy with Episode XIII, cheers!
Thanks loads for that.

Though I do miss him! Great guy.
Take care.

Hello Olga!
I have a special wish or recommendation. Although I am a big fan this request is not for me because I already saw the toy dolls many times. By the way, I live in Germany.
But you would make many people happy, if you go to indonesia one day. They are crazy for punk rock and live this spirit with passion. I have some friends there. Go to asia.

Frank Hello.

So sorry to hear about your MS.
We had a great time at Montebello in Canada, thank you!
All the details for shirts and other merchandise is on the shop page of this site, just click ‘SHOP’ at the top of the page.
Take Care

Hi Olga, here my question ,
why the band is called? Toy Dollz instead of Toy Dolls on the Orcastrated album?
Andrea Pisu

Hi Andrea
That was my crazy idea, which didn't work! I thought I would make a radical change! What a plonker I am, never mind, we back as The Toy Dolls! Excuse that daft mistake!

My dream is to go on a toy doll show you guys are my favorite punk band I’m born in Mexico but I live in California I just wondering when you guys play here I have a 2 year baby boy and he loves your guys music and my 3 daughters to and my wife also thanks?

Hello Emmanuel
Thank you!
Great to know the whole family are fans! That's a rare case, good to know!

Hi Olga.
Fan of 36 years here in the US (I am 53 years young).
Last time I saw you was at the Hollywood Palladium in 1992.
I had just found the ticket digging through my old boxes of stuff.
Had an opportunity to work in Malta NY (close to Montreal) in June.
Went and saw you (+ The Exploited) at the Montebello Rockfest.
What a BLAST!
Both you guys really dialed it in.
But you came on too late (11:30 PM) - passed my bedtime??: )
And yes you look great and should keep going!
I dragged my daughter along (20 year old).
She likes slow music, but she really loved you guys.
Like Father – Like Daughter!
I will be in the Netherlands for work between?Sep 24??–?Dec 16 2018.
Any chance you will have show’s in Europe during this time?
You might be tired from your South America run, but it would be a bucket list item for me to see you across the pond.
Dean Ruzic

Hi Dean
Wow, 1992, seems like yesterday!
Oh, thank you, we really enjoyed Montebello, and the Exploited are better than ever I reckon.
11.30pm is past my bedtime also!
Look great!? From a distance I guess! Cheers however!
Good that yer daughter was impressed too! Worth dragging her along eh!
There may may be a gig or two in Europe around that time, keep checking the tour dates!
I am sure we will be wiped out from the South American run, but we will survive!
Thank you again

Olga, what can I do to get you to come play in California? I can raise money, you can stay with us, I can book you in a great gig in Long Beach ... tell me ... what can I do ...?
Heather Kern

Hi Heather
Thank you, we may be back at some point! Sit tight!

Hi Olga, every training day in our boxing gym we play your songs, favourite is: dig that groove baby! Keep it up!

Hi Carsten
Cheers for that!
Good to know!

JUNE 2018

Back in high school we were a bunch of punk and heavy metal mates who used to fight each other about musical preferences. The Toy Dolls was one of the few points we all had in common, and I'm grateful for that because it made it real fun those days. Been a fan ever since... And I'm 40 now.
Cheers from Spain!

Hi Juan
Thank you for that info! good to know!
Greetings to yer mates in Spain!

Hi Olga,
Just trying to whip up a must come to Oz frenzy.
Load of Sunderland lads in Perth who would love to see the Toy Dolls
Best wishes

Hi Ian
Thank you!
Maybe we will get to Perth at some point!
Lets see what happens!

Hi, Olga!!!
I’ll go to the Toy Dolls concert here in Brazil in August!!!! Can i you assign one of my CDs??? Thanks a lot, i can’t wait for this show!!!!
Silvio Oliveira

Hey Silvio
Of course, signing is no problem!
We can't wait for the shows either, its been a while!

Hi Olga!
Thanks for everything over the years!
I'm kinda curious, whats with the chewing gum?
Best regards

Crille Hi
Thank YOU!
The chewing gum is for nerves actually! Still get stage fright after all these years! It kinda relaxes me, a bit!

I’ve been a fan since the 80’s and live in Seattle.
Will you ever come to the US? It would be a dream come true to see you play live.

Hi Eric
We have done a few US tours.
Not sure about a return visit just yet.
Keep checking the tour dates however!
I hope we will make it to Seattle.
Many thanks

Can you speak about the challenges of playing your songs live??Love your music!?I hope you tour the US soon (seeing you live is on my bucket list)!

Hey Zac
I really hope we can back at some point!
There are loads of challenges of playing the songs live, sitting down and recording them in the studio is completely different to standing up and doing all the choreography! Love the challenge though!

Oi! Oi! Hello Olga + the lads! Hope you're all in mid-season form...
I only just noticed something incredible that I want to share with you.
When I listen to Toy Dolls at work, I use Spotify, because I don't have a vinyl deck at the office. But one problem with the streaming services is that they often don't have the same recordings as I'm used to from my old records!
So to check how many versions there were of She Goes To Finos, I punched the song title in Spotify, and as well as a good many versions by your good selves I came across three covers - two of them more of the "tribute" variety, not much different apart from the vocals.
The last one was a sort of latin jazz/ bossa nova version by Eduardo Braga, from his album "Songs I Love"; an album which features also "Smooth Operator", "You Are The Sunshine Of My Life" and well, other fairly limp fodder. Finos stands out in this company I can tell you!
So, my questions would be -
1. Have you heard Mr. Braga's version of "Finos", and what do you make of it?
2. More generally - what do you think of other cover versions of your songs?
3. You yourselves did your fair share of covers too, can you say something clever about the pros and cons of cover versions, or what to do or not to do with other peoples songs? (OK it doesn't have to be so very clever! - fookin hell, thanks to the Toy Dolls I just listened to a bossa nova recording!).
Much love from too hot Oslo

?ystein Hi
Greetings to Oslo,
Ah love Norway Me!
I am really outta touch with Spotify, will check it out!
1. Not yet, cant wait to hear it!
2. Most of them are better than our own versions!
3. I think its good to do covers if you make it sound as if you wrote the song yourself, not keen on just copying a song and adding nothing! Like a covers band.

Hi Olga,
Just saw that the unique show in S?o Paulo- Brazil is sold out 4 month before.
Don’t you think about one or two extra presentations?
This city is big enough to receive you.
Best wishes,
Valmir Stepanczuk

Hi Valmir,
Thank you for your idea.
Yes the city is big enough for more shows, but due to the workload, jetlag and possibility of us losing our voices, we cant risk it, all the shows in South America are important to us, I wouldn't like to push ourselves too much and have no voices left for the shows on the 2nd half of the tour!
Hope you understand!

Hello Olga! My name is Drew and I’m a huge Toy Dolls fan, although I have never had the chance to see you all live, any chance of the Toy Dolls making an appearance in Chicago anytime soon?

Hey Drew
We had a great time last time in Chicago, I hope it will happen again at some point, nothing planned just yet, but lets see what happens!

Hi. I'm López from Argentina. This is my question: ?What do you think about people who say you're not a true punk? I mean, When they tell you that you are not a rebellious guy like the punks

A: López Hi
Punk is an attitude of mind, Punk is about doing as you wish without compromise.
We have been doing the same thing for almost 40 years, what more can I say?
See ya in August!

APRIL 2018

Hey Olga
I am a Sunderland girl but have moved to Brisbane, Australia. I have only had the opportunity to see you guys live once and that was at the Angel in London. Tonight I went to see SLF in Brisbane and was just thinking it is about time you came to Brisbane. Any plans for a down under tour?
Sunderland at heart
Audrey x

Hey Audrey
Brisbane eh!
Yes it is about time we came to Australia! No immediate plans, but fingers crossed it will happen at some point, it took us about 7 years before we got to play France, and that's the next country to us!
Many thanks

Hi Olga My Punk Rock Brother.
When are you guys coming back to the USA? California?
Would love to see you guys or play another show with you again!
Hope all is well.

Rory Hi
Thank you, I guess we will be back at some point, we had a wicked time in 2014!
Cheers for your support!

Hey Olga, I see you will be at Rockfest in Montebello this June 16, will you be playing anywhere else while your in Canada?? I'm still offering to take u guys to Niagara Falls if you come near Toronto!! If you are looking to book any shows in the Golden Horseshoe (Toronto - Niagara area) you have my email and I can get you in touch with the proper people.
See you in June!!!
Thanks..... Tim

Hi Tim
Unfortunately the deal is just for the one Canadian show, but hopefully we will be back!
Niagra Falls sounds tempting!

Hi ..... I'm a big fan of toy dolls, and now in 2018. I am living in Japan. I wonder if you touch by aki this year to go with my Japanese friends and teach them what is good music. A hug. Kike poison.

Hi Kike
Its been a while since we played Japan.
Fingers crossed it will happen after the next album is released, not sure it will be this year though!

I have multiple sclerosis and sorry I can not go to the Canada show :-( but I would like to know what items you have to sell ???? And the distance Montebello and Saguenay that separates us sorry if mistake of language.

You can check the items on this website if you click on ‘SHOP’.
I hope that helps!

Hey I saw you guys are coming to Canada for rock fest finally coming to Canada and I can't make rock fest... is there anyway you guys could play a quick show in Toronto before or after??? That would be class mate you would sell out no problem!! Cheers!!

A: Hey!
Bah, shame you cant make the festival.
Due to contractual agreements we can't play Toronto, but fingers crossed we will be back for club shows!
Many thanks

Hi Olga, thanks for replying to my son Dan's 'Ask Olga'. Appreciate you must be really busy with the new album. He's over the moon.
Hopefully you'll get back to tour the UK soon. Sunderland would be amazing. Sunniside LIVE (top of Frederick St)?
Me and a mate are coming out to Torre Del Mar for the beach festival to see you. What do you reckon it would be like for the kids (age 10 & 13) as they are dying to see you? Be a damn good reason to skip school i reckon even if they had to listen from the hotel balcony.
Keep up the amazing music and banter

Neil Hi
Yes really busy, moving forward though, albeit slowly!
Not sure about that festival to be honest, it's a huge one, doesn't look like we will get a soundcheck or much of a set to be honest, best off waiting for a club show if I am honest!

A million apologies...
I’m 60 a punk fan since 76 but never seen you. Sorry, you must be insulted.
Are you playing Britain this year?

Ha, no worries Glyn!
No UK plans this year but keep checking the tour dates, anything can happen!
Hope to see ya before your 70th!

besides the rockfest is there ever a chance for the toy dolls to play else where in Canada ? I and a couple other people I know would 100% go if they played Toronto
Joey Sloan

Hi Joey
Unfortunately the deal is for the festival only.
That's not saying we wont be back, fingers crossed for club shows!

I love the old British music hall style, and you have best carried it on and adapted it to modern times!
Charles Clark

Charles hi
Yep, that's us, old and British!
Cheers for your support!

Hi, I have asked before this question but will their ever be a chance you guys will come play in the USA? Particularly NYC?

Always a chance! NYC rocks!
We always have a fantastic time there, fingers crossed it will happen again.

MARCH 2018

Any plans to play England again , saw you guys in Brum a few years ago , amazing set you guys are fucking awesome
Richard Davis

Thank you for that, no UK plans at the moment, maybe after the new album is released.

I'm Goio, the Oskar's brother, the photographer of your concert yesterday in Pamplona.?Amazing show that made us very short...
Attached a song of a Basque punk group that adapts very well to your style to cover it.?I hope you like it.
Also attached one of my situationist art design creations. If you want an album cover here you have me
Until next time

Hi Goio
Thank you!
I will check out that Basque band, thank you.
Cheers for that!
Hope to see you again in Pamplona.

Hello Olga,
So many people would love to see you at Punk Rock Bowling in Las Vegas.? Any plans of playing at PRB this coming year or in the coming years?

Hi Arnold
It may happen at some point!

Hi Olga,
the world is changing a lot these days.
We are moving towards less democracy, less personal freedom, more social blaming, increasing boarders between colour, race, religion , people and so on.
I am truly scared seeing all the extremist and radical guys on the move driving towaards global conflicts maybe resulting in war.
What's your view on this?
Can you bring back some smile and sing on how people can?live together and get a long well?
I feel that we need more punck rock these days to strike back against these fools.
Go for it! I've heard?James Bond lives down your street - it appears you're well connected and can do it?;-)
We need a new song for freedom and punk!
Thomas - enjoying your music since 25 years

Hi Thomas
OMG, its meant to be escapism on this website!
How long do you have?
Hope to see ya at a live show!
25 years? Wow, thank you!

Happy Holidays Olga,
I have been a fan for 35+ years and now have 14 year old daughter who loves The Toy Dolls.? It appears you have only played in the States once or twice.? When, if ever, do you think you may make it back to the States and California in particular?

Cheers Kurt
A few weeks late with the Ask Olga answers this time, happy holidays to you too!
We may be back in California at some point, lets see what happens!
Greetings to your daughter too.
Thank you

Hi Olga, my name is Dan and i'm 9 and from Sunderland. I enjoy listening to you and so does my sister Olivia age 13. Attached is a short video of Olivia's friend Abbey singing Spiders in the dressing room down the playstation network. It was funny she likes you to. We play Alexander road in the car when we drive down it and my dad pointed out Frederick street last Sunday when we were walking past.
Will you ever be playing again in Sunderland or near by?
Did you ever get in to Fino's and go out with Kendra?
My dad says Deidre and Dougy Giro was playing in the Borough on Thursday night and would like to ask if Dougy used to drink in the Kings Arms down Deptford?
I Googled Deidre and Glenda to see who you were singing about. Very Funny
Keep up the good work
Sent with help from my dad Neil and his permission

Hi there Dan
Thank you! I am pleased you like our music! And Olivia too!
Ha, thanks for the video also!
We may be back in the north east of UK someday, maybe Sunderland.
I did get in to Finos when we made a video! Never got to go out with Kendra though!
I don't think Dougy had any money to go down the pub unfortunately.

Hi Olga,
Do you play soon to Toulouse (France) ?
It’s a long time, you don’t come to see us….

Hi Laurent
Its been a while since we played Toulouse actually, it may be included on the next French tour, after the album is released.
Fingers crossed

Hello? Dolls, i? cud'nt find the exact Tourplan 2018, is it allready? Best to you all, Flo

Hi Flo
All confirmed dates are on the front page of www.cvuoc.icu
Shows are regularly being added.

Been a fan since the early days when I used to get the fan mags. I know 'barry manilow' only seems to be on the early flipside video and it's an old song but would love to hear a studio version. Any chance of that?
Paul Florence

Actually there was a studio recording made of Barry Manilow, I am trying to get a hold of a copy now.
I will put it up if I get it.

Are you and the?band ever planning to tour Canada? If so , make sure you try to make a stop in?sunny Kelowna?BIrtish?Colombia, Bring your swim shorts if you decide to come in July or August!?Gets hot here 30 to 36 Celsius. Germany rocks!

Any plans for the guys to come to North America...specifically Salt Lake City???
A guy can dream right???

Hi Steve
Yeah, its just a dream at the moment! we may return one day!

Hello Olga, Carlos here, from Spain.
I bought VIP tickets to see offspring live in Malaga and today I saw that you were going to play, awesome! I f****ing love toy dolls. I was wondering if it's possible, (maybe not in person?) to send you a gift, a vinyl of my band. Its '77 punk and it would be a honour to me if you have one. I would pay all the taxes or if it's in person its even better. We even play "Tommy Koweys Car" live!
Thank you and excuse my English

A: Hey Carlos, your English is fine, don’t worry
It's a bit difficult to get stuff to us, but maybe you can bring it to the show in Malaga.

Any plans to do any English dates please ? Alan & Alice

Hi A & A, no immediate plans, but that's not to say it will never happen!

Olga! I first got captivated by your sound aged 16 in 2004 and remain so until now of course. Was learning English from the Toy Dolls songs and even adopted the Geordie pronunciation as my basic.
I've always felt sorry for the Fat Bob's Feet album coz it's perhaps my favourite one. Any plans to do something about the amplitude of sound in FB'sF? Such gems of bygones are worth active revisiting. That'd be great!
Lads if you only could come here with your sizzling fingers you would sure melt much of the cold and stiffness here.
Many many Cheers!
Mikhail from Siberia

Hi Mikhail
Thank you
It would be great to completely re mix Fat Bobs Feet at some point, along with a few more of the albums!
Greetings to Siberia, its not much warmer here in London at the moment!

Hi Olga by when coming to Barcelona or nearby?
Following you since early 80's you're a different great band!
thank you

Hi Josep
Barcelona rocks!
No immediate plans to return just yet! I guess we will be back though!

Hi Olga!!!
Have you already got tour dates for 2018.
Please please come to Germany.
Best regards from Hamburg with punk in the heart.

Hi Torre
Our agency are just working on shows now, not sure about Hamburg or Germany in 2018, but I am sure we will be back at some point, after the new album release I think.
Cheers for your support!

Hiya dudes, it is fantastic to see the toy dolls are still on the go. Im an old ish punk from the 80s and still enjoy your music.?Keep up the good work and stay strong ya all.
Matty fae Scotland

Hi Olga,
My dad, sister and I really like your music!
Did you know I’m learning the violin and the kazoo?
Our street has a loud echo in it, and much to my mother’s dismay, my kazoo rendition of the Final Countdown sounds just brilliant.?I’ll keep at it.
And one more thing, I’ll let you in on a little secret, I am a vegan.
My big question is, I would love you guys to do a Christmas Carols album, (Toy Dolls style)!
Thanks Olga

Daddy (Jim - 49 years old)

Hi Samual
Thank you for your mail.
Good luck with the learning! Violin is easy enough, but the kazoo can be tricky!!!
I will think about the Christmas Carols album, that is a good idea!

Hi Olga,
My name is Alec (just a coincidence) and I am a 17 year old from New York City. I have been listening to you guys for as long as I can remember and this is all because of my father. Unfortunately since I live in New York i have never been able to experience you guys live. My dad did when you guys came to CBGB's (very envious) so at least I have his video to watch of that. Anyways, I know you get asked this often but still, whenever you can please come to New York. It will definitely be worth while and I will be first at the door haha. Cheers Olga. See you in NY soon (I hope).

Hi Alec,
Thank you.
I hope we can get back to NYC at some point, its been a while.
Cheers to your father too!
CBGBs was a blast, nice dressing rooms also!
Take care

Hey Olga!
First off, I want to say, you guys are seriously underrated! You're perhaps the fastest and funniest punk band I've ever listened to. Anyway, my question is, would you guys ever play the Vans Warped Tour?
Much love from Ohio,

Hi Anthony
Ha, thanks for that!
Yeah, we may do the Vans Warped tour at some point.
Greetings to Ohio!

Can I meet you to sign my t-shirt this year, October 21 in SELESTAT, during the festival Disorder Day? For the sixth time???
this festival, my son will be there, but also my wife, my brother-in-law and his wife, my cousin and several other friends.....
Can you tell me where to meet after the concert?
Thank you to answer me and soon, on October 21st.

Hi Sam
I hope we got to see you on the 21st October!?
I also hope your family & friends enjoyed the show!
I did pop out afterwards.
Sorry if this reply reaches you too late!
The Ask Olga questions are answered each month.
Cheers for coming!

Are the Toy Dolls made with USA?
it’s been awhile since you tour here. :-(
I really need my fix’n.
Your fan since 1980

Thank you
No immediate plans, but we may be back at some point!
Cheers for your loyalty!

Much respect and admiration from the Sonoran Desert in Northern Mexico. I heard the Toy Dolls many years ago after I read an interview with a great band from Madrid named Mama Ladilla (check them out) who listed you guys as one of their biggest influence.?I'm not gonna ask you the usual "when you playing my city" question because I know a great team of people are doing their best to bring you guys there...wherever that might be... so instead I'll ask you a handful of random questions...
1. You and all the Toy Dolls present, past and future are definitely accomplished musicians. Did bands back in the day or even today ever gave you any kind of hassle for not having the "true sloppy punk sound" the "correct fashion" or the " right angry attitude and lyrics" ?
2. Is there gonna be a new all original new Toy Dolls album? Maybe a last after the two last ones?
3. Is Marty's Mam based on a real story? Loved that song since all of us knows a "Marty's Mam" somewhere that we all miss very much.
4. Oh what the heck... When are you guys playing Mexico?
Gilberto from Agua Prieta,

Hi Gilberto !
Greetings to Mexico.
Hopefully we will get there asap
I will check out Mama Ladilla.
Re: your 4 questions:
1. Well thank you! Yes we did get hassle, and still do occasionally, unfortunately!
2. There is yes, I am working on it now! Hopefully for release in 2018.
3. Cheers, Yes Marty’s Mam is about our ex drummers mother, all true.
4. Ha, lets hope e can find a good promoter there soon.
Cheers, Olga

Hey Olga,
I was wondering if there's such a thing as Toy Dolls stickers? I have a motorbike and want to adorn it with some Toy Dolls !!!
Hope alls well with you and the rest of the lads
Alan Mills ( Al )

Hi Alan
We did have stickers in the past, we may get some new ones next year too. Keep checking the Webshop!
Enjoy the bike!

Hi Olga!
You′re awesome... I′m waiting for some show, here in Brazil, again! I′m sure that?will be a big party !!
What do you think? Please come to BR !!!

Hi Rafa
Thank you!
We love Brazil, I really hope we can get back as soon as possible!

Hey Olga,
I, like many other fans online, have been really curious about the song “I can see you” which you performed in Japan 1992. Nobody can seem to find a studio version of this, does one exist? If not, why was it never taken to the studio? It’s a great track. It does sound a little different to the “Toy Dolls” sound if you will, but that’s part of the charm for me. I’m sorry if you’ve had this question before and thanks in advance for your time. I guess a gig in Cardiff, South Wales is out of the question(!) so I’ll try to get a ticket for one of your shows in England next year, best wishes Olga, Richie.

Hi Richie
We didn’t make a studio version of I Can See You, it was written by our first singer, Pete, who was around only for a few weeks in 1979.
Seems crazy that we have never been to Cardiff or anywhere in Wales.
Maybe some day!

Hi Olga!!
Thank You sooo much for helping my friend, making the best 40th birthday ever.
I know she mailed you 'bout coming to northern Sweden to play for me, but she didn't raise enough funds.?
She ordered your beer, for me. They are soooo delicious.?
Congrat's that Sunderland manage to stay in PL, I follow them as much as I can, but I'm a hotspur, so You see where my bigest interest are.?
Oh well... I hope to see You, Toydolls, again sometime, take good care of You, and please. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!! ?
Best regards,? Alexander, Umea

Hi Alexander
Good to know you like the beer!
We miss Sweden, and always have a great time there, fingers crossed for a return.
Thank you!

Hi Olga,
My name is Ricardo and I'm a huge Toy Dolls' fan from Brazil since ever. Actually, you guys are one of my favourite band!!
Although I probably know the answer (oh Ricardo, I can't), I have to ask....do you have any plan to come to Brazil? Think about that!!!
Warmest regards from Brazil

Ricardo Hi
Thank you!
We are ready to return to Brazil, as soon as we find a promoter!
Lets hope is happens soon.
We miss you lot!

My son has just started to listen to your records. ?He loves 'Everynight she goes to Finos'. ?It's great because every weekend I was clubbing in Finos. ?I just read that your first gig was in the Millview Social club in Fulwell which is near where I live. ?Fab times
Angie from Fulwell, Sunderland.

Hi Angie
Thank you
Greetings to your son! And Fulwell!
Not sure fab times, but special ones anyway!

Hi Olga!
Hope you do a UK tour for the next album. Hopefully you play Fibbers here in York. ;)
My question is: How did the band's name come about?

Lets see what happens after the album release!
York is a great city.
I actually thought of the building bricks logo first, then The Toy Kings, but was later changed to Dolls!

Hello Olga,
I was in Tolmin listening to the Toy Dolls, and they were really, really good (of course I liked Nelly ;)
When they were playing the "Toccata" from Bach, that moment was amazing, having a band playing a great classical track on electric guitars. Love it.
At the moment I heard that song from the Toy Dolls featuring Bach, in my mind was, this could be the band providing one of my favourite Mozart compositions "Sinfonia No. 20".
Here is an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvR_Jia7gw0
Even I'm not in France, Belgium or Spain the next month, it would be wonderful to hear that Mozart done artwork arranged for the Toy Dolls.
So, would You ask the band to have Mozart's 20th Sinfonia being played by them? This would be remarkable great, and they could win a lot of hearts more on stage ^^
Who else could be able to do that? :)
Thank You
Thimo Werner

Hi Thimo
I will check out the link, thank you for that. Looking forward to hearing it.
I am glad you enjoyed Tolmin,we had a blast! Bit hot though!

My ask Olga question is when are you coming to play in the U.S.? I would also like to know if you enjoy butter tarts. THANK YOU and have a lovely day.
Your faithful fan,
P.S. Please come to the Marquee theatre in Arizona. I said please, right?

No immediate plans Becky, maybe at some point though.
Not sure what butter tarts are! I do like scones and clotted cream though! Maybe that’s the UK version?

Hey, Olga!
Thanks for keeping my ear holes filled with your awesome music for many years!
I sure wish y'all could tour the U.S. more, particularly the Midwest. I'm gonna have to try to time a trip to England one say to correspond with one your shows!
Are you by chance familiar with groups such as the Melvins? I know they aren't punk, but I'd love to see both of your bands cover one another's tunes. If not the Melvins, how about covering some Queen? On one track called 'Drooling Banjos', you hit a note (around 3:17) ?that sounded JUST like how Brian May plays. :D
Thanks for all the rockin' tunes! I hope to catch y'all before too long!
David "Dutch" K.

Hi there David
Hey, thank YOU!
I know of the Melvins, not checked em out yet though, heard great reports.
Brian May rocks!
Cheers Olga

Thanks to the wonders of modern technology such as You tube and the internet, my 3 year old son is slightly obsessed with your version of Nellie the elephant. He even tries his hardest to sing along with you!?
Wondering if you have any UK dates planned in 2018 preferably northern England at a festival etc ? Would love to bring him ?(with his ear defenders of course- responsible parenting!)
Sarah and Ben (age 3)

Hi Sarah
Ha! Good to know Ben is obsessed!
No UK shows planned just yet, but please keep checking the tour dates on the front page of this site!
Hope to see you both at a gig!

JUNE 2017

Hello Olga
This ist Anton from Southern Germany, who in rode seven hours with a 80ccm Scooter in winter through the Black Forest to see you in Karlsruhe Substage.
It was all worthy!
Next week i start a tour with my 125ccm CUB t Durham, where my son is doing his studies in physics. He likes this small city very much and I have to visit him and of course some special Toydolls-Locations.?for exc:?the Penshaw Monument?because of "Dig That Groove Baby"
I have a small Problem with the Durham Ramside hall from "Olga I Cannot"
Is it this one? http://www.ramsidehallhotel.co.uk/
May be?
The guardian studios in pity me seem to not exist any more ... os this right.
lokking forward to hers from you
best regards

Hello Anton!
Wow, thank you for traveling so far! We had a great time at the Substage.
Yes, that’s the correct Ramside Hall.
Unfortuntaely Guardian Studios closed many years ago, it was on Front Street, Pity Me.
Anyway, you may be reading this a bit late now! Hope you had a great time!

Oi Olga!

Long time fan here in the states.
Do you plan a US tour anytime soon? In particular, the West Coast. And if you don't, do you see yourself playing around the U.K. in early 2018? Planning a trip across the great pond next year. I'd love to plan it around one of your gigs..
Thank you.
-Orlando the goon!

Oi Orlando!
We had a really great time on the West coast in 2014, no returns planned just yet.
Early 2018 UK shows look unlikely too! But ya never know!

Hello Olga,
I saw you at the Randalemeeting last week and I have to tell you that it was great!!!!
Thank you for playing?such a small gig and I hope that you will return one day, even if you?three are used to a much larger crowd.
Keep on playing for lots of years!!!

Cheers Stefan
We enjoyed the Randale Meeting a lot! Nice to play in a little club, but hot mind ya!
Thank you

Hi Olga, I've been a fan for many a year. Thanks for every song you've ever played.
My local pub since the 1980s was the Elephant and Castle in Dumbarton High street, the lounge was called Nellie's,every Friday and Saturday night the DJ ended the night with a certain song by the Toy Dolls can you guess the song I'm on about?
Anyway the local council have just flattened it (the pub that is), but as long as you carry on I'll still have happy memory's of those days.
Thanks again Hoopy

Hoppy Hi!
Thank you!
Oh no, sorry to hear about the Elephant & Castle, at least you still have the memories!

Hi Olga, I lost a friend yesterday. He suffered a stroke after exiting the plane from Houston to Vegas for Punk Rock Bowling a few days ago and didn't make it. He was the biggest Toy Dolls fan, and like you, a phenomenal guitar player. I like to think you had something to do with that. He played in the punk band 30footFALL for 25 years. He had a Toy Dolls tattoo you told him he'd regret that, and somehow, I knew you were wrong. Only because Chris didn't waste time or regret anything, plus y'all are a great band. I'm happy he got to see The Toy Dolls live in LA, he talked about it for weeks, and forever, after. A lot of people in the Houston, TX punk rock and national punk scene are hurting right now because a great friend, musician, son, brother, and father are gone. But he would not want us to be sad, in fact, he would want us to be goofy, crack jokes, and listen to The Toy Dolls. I take solace in the fact that he got to masquerade as The Toy Dolls on a punk tribute night where he played those songs perfectly. He will enjoy your sets from up above from now on.
Your fan,
Lj Sanford

Hi Lj
Thank you.
Yes, I heard about your tragic loss, so sorry to hear this.
From the clips I saw of Chris he was an outstanding guitar player.

Hi Olga,
My Dad introduced me to your music when I was young and I have loved it ever since.
I was just wondering, why is it the Toy Dolls have never visited Ireland? Is there any plans for one in the future? I would love to see you in Belfast!?
Thank you,

Hi Sean
Thank you and cheers to your Dad!
Ireland is just one of the countries we have never played!! Seems crazy as its right next to us!
I really hope our management can come up with a show at some point!

Hello Olga,?
I just discovered your music and I am now a huge fan! Can't believe it took this long for me to find you! We'll you be doing any shows in Los Angeles in the near future?
Thanks, Dan

Thank you Dan!
We had a wicked time just 3 years ago at the Fonda Theatre in L.A, not sure about any return visits just yet.
Take care

Hello, Olga.
Toy Dolls have been my very favorite band for the last 25 years.
I was listening to the album "idle gossip" and, just like you, I can not stand the production of it. The songs are great, but all that reverb and delay effects destroy the experience of listening to the album. Are those tapes lost forever? Have you ever thought about remixing this record?
greetings from brazil!

Godinho Hi
I totally agree, we used a different producer for that album, I can’t listen to it!
The tapes are owned by a different record company, though I am not sure the remixing would help much, as the way the songs were recorded wasn’t great either!

MAY 2017

Hello Olga,
I've just rediscovered you guys over the last year. Brilliant stuff. Love your music as much as i did back in the 80's. But now there's?even more fantastic tunes... Enough said..
Be great to see and hear you guys in Australia is that's at all possible? I live in Hobart but will travel...
Can only dream.
Jim Hooper

Hello Jim
Thank you!
Cheers for the rediscovery!
Australia will happen at some point! It took us 7 years to get France, and that’s the next country to us!

Thanx for answering my question olga, youre a top dude.... thought i might share this with you, this is pucker gen... whilst moving green day back to their 'hotel' (promoters house) in Belfast, Friday, Dec13th 1991, they'd just played Richardsons.. (£2:50 a squiz then). I was blasting out The Toy Dolls and BJ, Mike and Tre all thought that The Toy Dolls were the mutz nutz, BJ stated that Olga is a "s**t hot guitarist, one of the best"... (your downstroke came in for particular praise). Anyway, BJA nicked my Toy dolls compilation tape and ?blasted it out all night till the wee small hrs. I say BJA has great taste.. Keep rockin Olga. Robert and Rabbyjohn. (the too Bobs) ps..im 52,,,, u did ask.. and the toy dolls are the reason i learned guitar...
Robert Holloway

Thank you Robert,
Cheers for that interesting info! Nice to know!
Many thanks

Howdy...I am in hartlepool...my mate is a fan.. I am 80's hardcore punk rock leftover (black flag/minor threatetc)but he is real punk rock 77 etc.. he says you might be from this way? I thought I could check out some memorabilia stuff for him.. if this is true do you have any haunts here I could go check out for him?.. gracias...
Pablo Gonzales

Pablo Hi
Aye, I am originally from South Shields, not far from Hartlepool at all!
Cant remember much about the place though, left when I was 4!

Dear Olga,
On 19th of february I visited a concert of Toy Dolls and catched a balloon that fell down at the end of the concert. Now, way more than a month later, the balloon is still the exact same size!! What kind of amazing balloon is this?! I would like to know the brand.

Hi Nina
Ha! We have a big guy called Borys blowing the balloons up, if you saw him you would realize why the balloon is still alive n’ kickin!
Take care

My wife, daughter and I have booked a vacation to Scotland solely around seeing The Toy Dolls play the Scotland Calling show. I've been a fan since the mid 80's and my daughter has become a huge fan of yours. This is going to be my daughters first show and all of our first time out of country. Do you think it would be possible to get a photo with you and the boys after the show? This would make our trip complete!
John Sumner

Hey John
Sorry I didn’t get to see ya after the Scotland show, I really hope you enjoyed it however!
Cheers for coming!

Hi Guys,
Do you have any smaller nonfestival gigs in 2017 anywhere in europe ?
UK based but will travel anywhere to see a smaller set,
Amazing to see you still doing what you do best & Olga your guitar tutorials are second to none.
Kindest regards
Kevin Roberts

Hi Kevin
I believe there is a club show in Belgium later in the year, its on the tour dates, Vice Squad & Funeral Dress are special guests!
Without checking I think it’s the 14th October!

Hi Olga I'm coming to Manchester on the 3rd, my question is I'm in a wheelchair so I can't get back stage. Is there any chance you and the lads can?
Find the disabled area and sign my tee shirt. As you can imagine it's difficult for me to meet the band as a able-bodied fan could. All the best and if not it will still be a great gjg

John Hi
Thanks so much for coming!
Will take a look after the show!
Hopefully will find ya!
Cheers again

MARCH 2017

Hi Olga,Been listening to the toy dolls since 1980,yep i'm an old dude, punk rock is my life.Right question...what age did you start learning guitar, and why tele?PS.The Toy Dolls sound is timeless and beautiful, keep on putting it out there, youre the best guitarist in the business Olga....Green Day?pppffftttt!!!
Robert Holloway

Hi Robert
1980. wow, how old are you!?
I started playing guitar when I was 14, The Tele was because of Status Quo and Wilko Johnson!
Thank you for the nice comments!

My young son is enamored with the Toy Dolls DVD cover. There is this character, and he asked me who he is but I have no clue. Would you know who this is? It would allow me to sleep at night. Thanks in advance

Mike hi
Oh, I would have to check on that! I am not sure myself!

How could we miss you in Moscow? You made a bad move failing to tell us. Did you see the Xmas lights? Bad planning by your team. You need to go to a ballet at the Kremlin Palace Theatre. Outstanding!
I long to JIve on their dance floor upstairs.?? Is that 2 q’s for the price of one or is that making three? Thanks for the pleasure and would you be so kind as to do a Mott the Hoople song, because I am a Ross lad and they deserve it and my mates are dying round me. We lost Pete Watts a short while back.

Hi Rollo
Not sure how you missed it! We had a great time, didn’t see any Christmas lights however! Bah!
Ah Love Mott the Hoople Me! But I cant sing like Ian Hunter!

Great show ,still going strong ,hope you will come back ,Gr Hendrik? Leiden NL

Well thank you Gr Hendrik!
We always enjoy Holland!

Hi Olga,
How is all going?
Im a 18 year old boy from Burgos(Spain) who had loved toy dolls for nearly 4 years and i just asking myself what is/are the song/s that you prefer to play live.
Diego Moral

Deigo Hi!
Thank you!
Live maybe Dougy Giro & Alecs Gone.
Hope to see you in Burgos next time!

Hi Olga, ive been listening to and enjoying The Toy Dolls since 1981/82,and I would just like to say a BIG THANKYOU for your music. The Toy Dolls got young lads like me and many others through the hardest of times in our home city of Belfast during a time when the conflict was raging.Through your music and bands like SLF we had punk rock to fill our lives ,make us smile and keep us away from trouble..Will you ever consider playing Belfast in the future?I know The Toy Dolls would be well received, any chance of it happening Olga? ? ?Your neighbours across the irish sea need you...Rabbyjohn.

Rabbyjohn hello!
1981/2 is a long time! Thank YOU!
SLF rock, good taste!
We would love to get to Belfast, I am really surprised Ireland has never happened yet!
Fingers crossed we will get there!

Hey Olga!
Do you have any gigs coming up in Buenos Aires?
PLEASE come to Argentina again, we really miss you guys.
Naranja Cítrico

Naranja Hi
We really miss Buenos Aires too, as soon as we find a South American promoter we will be back!

Hello Olga,
I'm going to attend the concert at Luxorlive in Arnhem with a lot of friends. My best friend is also comming and he is a Toy Dolls follower for more then 30 years. He has seen you guys play more then 35 times. (Meself about 20). He is turning 50 in march and I would like to ask if there's any possibility to get a backstage pass for him so he can meet you guys and have a picture taken with the band?
If there are any costs to it I don't mind. I just hope it's possible??
If you get many requests i understand you can't answer them all but i hope to hear from you.
Kind regards
Hein Kwint

Hi Kwint
More than 30 years, wow!
I will be out after the show, I will try to arrange a pic with the lads, no worries!

Hello Olga!
My name is Marta.
I'm a big fan of yours for many years and I would like to know if there is any concert scheduled for Madrid in 2017
Thank you very much

Hi Marta
Thank you
There is a festival near Madrid, not sure which one it is, but if you check the tour dates on the front page of this website, you can see!

Hey olga.
Just want to say keep doing what your doing. Am quite new to the toy dolls but iv instantly fell in love with you guys and I would be gutted if you called it day before I get the chance to see you live.?
Do you think social media has played a part in you guys growing popularity??
John, ?

Thank you John!
Social Media has helped for sure!
Hope to see ya at Scotland Calling in April!

Hi Olga!
I'm excited for your gig in Nurnberg tomorrow (well when you answer the question the gig will already be over!) we will drive for more than 400km to see you lot - i'm so excited i'm almost peeing my pants!
To the question: is keith (from your crew) a thief?
It's a pity that all concerts in Germany have been sold out soon.
Is there any oppotunity to see you live in Germany once more in further times ?
And - please - in some bigger locations so that all of your fans get a chance to see you live on stage.
Stay happy
Cheers, Simon

Hello! I hope you enjoyed Nurnberg!
Ha, our Keith is not the Keith who's a thief fortunately!
Hope to see you again in Germany

Hi Olga,
Are any gigs in or around London planned in 2017?
Best, Dirk

Dirk Hi
No London or UK gigs planned for 2017, but there is North West Calling and Scotland Calling!

Hi Olga,
I want to say "Thank You" for your fantastic concert in Nürnberg 12.01.17.
I am a fan since 1989 and visit your concerts 3 times.
The music give me so much energy.
Your transfer fun with your songs and I sad times, I come back with positve thougts.
My wish for the future, please come back again to Germany!
One of your great fans

Hi Markus
Thank you for coming! We had a great time as usual.
I am sure we will be back in Germany at some point!
Many thanks

Queen Elizabeth permitting and Mr Trump allowing, any chance "THE TOY DOLLS" will get to San Francisco, California some day sooner than later?
Keep young guys!
Jose Costa Pinto

Hey Jose!
I hope we can return at some point, we had great time there a coupla years back.

Hi Olga,
I've been an uber-fan for well over 30 years. You guys make me move and you make me smile! Love ya. Period.
A random thought I had today: You are to The Toy Dolls what Robert Fripp is to King Crimson. The leader, the heart, the soul and institutional memory of your great band!
Reading thru the Q and A's on your site I was surprised to see so many fellow Americans are also long-time fans of the band. Since you've never been played on the radio (to my knowledge) we all found you pre-internet mostly by chance, I suppose. If you make it to NY, LA or Chicago someday, I'll travel from Minnesota to see you guys!
I wasn't surprised to read that you love classical and jazz music. Creative minds find inspiration from many and diverse sources.
OK, that's my fan letter :)
Here's my question: The band started playing in '79 but didn't put out an album until 1983. And just a few singles prior to that. Are there any tapes (bootleg or otherwise) of Toy Dolls material from the very early days which has never been heard (released) before? And, if so, could you release a CD (even if poor audio quality) thru the website for your die-hard fans?
All for now,
Tony Thompson

Thank you very much Tony!
No material knocking around that I know of! But I will check!
I would like to hear for meself!

Hiya Olga,
I asked you a question years ago and you answered it so I just wanted to thank you for taking your time to answer our questions. It's really great you do this because most legendary bands don't. Anyway my question to you is, do you listen to any rocksteady or dancehall music? If so what is your favorite song of these genres??
Stay happy and healthy,
Tyler Gminder

Hiya Tyler!
No worries, it’s a pleasure to answer questions!
I mostly listen to classical or Jazz, Ella Fitzgerald/ Chet Baker stuff to be honest. Though I don’t mind Rocksteady/Dancehall stuff now and then.
Only thing I cant listen to is disco/techno.

Hi Olga chap! Big love for the toy dolls! Been a fan since I stumbled across you lot around 2012. Wondering if you'd be happy to answer a few questions for a little zine I'm making and where I can send you questions other than here? No worries if not, I understand your probably fed up with interviews from over the years aha. Much love from a young punk here in the UK!

Yes of course, just send your answers to the ASK OLGA section, I will answer and send you them back privately.

Hello there,
Can you tell me please where can I find Fat Bob's feet album on cd?
Cheers and regards from Serbia

Hello to Serbia!
Yes, you can get FAT BOBS FEET CD from the link in our WEBSHOP, here.

Please, please, please, put together a performance in the United States.? A live performance by the The Toy Dolls is at the top of my bucket list. ? I'm sure if you performed in New York City, you would have a great turnout.
Also, do you have an email list for any news about the band, or is it just your website?
Long-time fan,
Zac from Virginia, USA

Hi Zac
We always have a great time in New York, lovely people.
If we save up enough for work visas we will be back!
You can check news on the website or FACEBOOK.
Both are updated regularly.
Thank you

Big hugs to you and the Lads...
Enviado do meu

Hi Enviado
I really hope we can get back to Brazil, its been a while! We miss you lot!

Hi Olga,
I have an easy question:
Why we never had the chance to see you????
And this, since the birth of the group?
Sometimes in the USA, but never crossed the Canada side ???
Why??? Why??? Why??
Is the faultIt is the fault of my little knowledge in English
And foul to the translator !!

We would love to get to Canada at some point! I hope it will happen soon! Fingers crossed!

Hey Olga I once heard that song dougie giro was about the tramp that was around Sunderland in the 1980s. I remember him when I used to go to the town I wonder what happened to him. Also when the DAMNED tour next year it would be great if you're band support them on a equal basis that would be without a doubt the best tour ever. Hope you answer my questions thanx and keep playing.

Yes, that’s correct, that’s Dougy! I guess he must be around 100 now!
The Damned rock, we have played festivals together but never club shows, maybe some day!

Hey Olga, more fan mail - This is William from the OC in California. Just bought my Dolls dark blue Shirt... :-0
Huge fan (30 years strong) I saw the Toy Dolls at the Hollywood Palladium and it was AWESOME!!! - hope to see the TD in LA or OC soon. Let us know if you plan to extend a tour out to the states.

Hi William,
Well thank you! I remember the Palladium show!
Cheers for converting yer daughter & mates!
Hopefully we will return at some point!
Many thanks

Hey Olga,
I think I read somewhere that you are/were a fan of Stiff Little Fingers. If this is true then……..
1 - Have you heard their great 2014 album No Going Back? Or their 2016 Best served Loud?
2 - Have you ever seen them live? If not why not?
3 - Have you ever met Jake?
kind regards,
Nick & Kath
p.s. Thanks for a great show at Rock City back in 2013, come back sooner rather than later please.

Hi Nick and Kath,
1 - Yes I am an SLF fan! No I still haven’t heard the 2014 or 2016 album yet to be honest!
2 - No, why not indeed, shame on me!!
3 - Not Yet! Got a message from him on our 30th anniversary, would love to meet up.
PS - Thank you! We had a great time there, bit hot though!

Alright Olga? Just another bloody Yank here, noticed you were on tour, hope your crushing it and having a great time. Looks like you are all over the globe, will you be flying across the pond to the US at any time? I live in Las Vegas, the entertainment capital of the world, and would love to see the Toy Dolls wreak havoc on the strip. Celine Dion has headlined here so it only seems fitting your next. Why folks here in the desert would show you big love, c'mon you lot, why not pop round? Enjoy the tour, hope to see you someday,
All the best, Darrell Sanders

Hi Darrell
We would love to get back to Las Vegas at some point. Once we have saved up enough for work permits!

Please Olga, come back play in Curitiba, Brazil again!!!

We will be back Melissa, we miss South America! Cheers, Olga

Hi Olga!
I'm a big fan from southern Germany and when I see your posts on Facebook about the demos you make in your home studio, I wonder if you show the new songs to Duncan and Tommy as soon as you wrote them, or do you wait until the whole album is finished?
I'm looking forward sooo much to the new Album!
Greetings from Erding!
Your fan Adri

Greetings to you Adri
No, not as soon as I write them! I wait until the whole album is finished and I have listened to them 1000 times myself!

Years ago a chap who was a local at our pub claimed to be part of the toy dolls, at Nellie elephant fame/release. He lived in Falmouth c late 80's early 90's. Wasn't a local chap, he had moved into the area. Can't remember his name now sooo many years ago, suffering an 'Ozzy' memory! Did a past band member move to Cornwall? My work mates don't believe me!
Kind Regards

Hi Deborah
I did hear that a past member called Freddie had moved down there, not sure if this is who you are referring to! I haven’t seen him for decades, how is he?

First of all, excuse me for my horrible English! I love The Toy Dolls since I'm?13 (I'm 40 now) and skateboarding around the city with my walkman. Today I am veterinary doctor, do not walk over skate, but still love you guys!!! Any chance to come to Brasil in 2017?
See ya.
Vinícius Labres

Don’t worry about your horrible English Vinicius! Seriously, your English is fine.
I really hope we can get back to S.A in 2017, its been a long time, we miss you lot across there!
Take care

Hi All!
The Dickies and the Adolescents are playing the Observatory in Santa Ana, California, Sat, Dec 10. Sooo much love for you in the OC!!!?Take a quick flight from Tel Aviv into LAX and we'll pick you up!!
You're the first band I saw at about 15 years old. Around 1986 in Reseda, Ca. I think the Country Club. And that started this little Christian girls love affair with punk rock.
Now my kids sing your songs and jump around to Nellie the Elephant and your blue suede shoes.
We'd love love love that line up!
Take care. Thanks for the fantastic noise!
Donna Lynn

Hey Donna
Thank you!
The Dickies and The Adolescents, wow, that will be some show!
We wish we could be there!
I hope we can get back at some point.

Mac (ex The Videos)

Mac Hi
Ha, I remember Thornaby!
Say Hi to Paul if you see him!

Hi,i am Joy-Anne Fitzgerald a 13 year old girl from Philippines and England, i was wondering if you had any way of having a concert in Philippines my dad is a really big fan it would mean the world to him to come to one of your shows. He is around the bands age and he has been a really big fan ever since the band was a “band” he has loved you guys since he was a child and he still does! I really hope you can help me and make his wish come true!

We would love to get there Joy!

Maybe it will happen!
Take care

Hey Olga!
I am a fan from Munich in southern Germany and I have got two questions for you:
-Are you going to play here some time? I saw you will be in Nürnberg soon, but unfortunately that's too far away for me.
-Are you married, do you have a girlfriend or are you single?
Greetings from Munich!
Your fan Adrian

Adrian Hi
We recently played Munich, that’s why we are playing different towns this time around.
So sorry you cant make it.
Ah… personal questions….. no comment!

JUNE 2016

Gilberto from Agua Prieta,
Much respect and admiration from the Sonoran Desert in Northern Mexico. I heard the Toy Dolls many years ago after I read an interview with a great band from Madrid named Mama Ladilla (check them out) who listed you guys as one of their biggest influence.? I'm not gonna ask you the usual "when you playing my city" question because I know a great team of people are doing their best to bring you guys there...wherever that might be... so instead I'll ask you a handful of random questions...
1.- You and all the Toy Dolls present, past and future are definitely accomplished musicians. Did bands back in the day or even today ever gave you any kind of hassle for not having the "true sloppy punk sound" the "correct fashion" or the " right angry attitude and lyrics" ?
2.- Is there gonna be a new all original new Toy Dolls album? Maybe a last after the two last ones?
3.- Is Marty's Mam based on a real story? Loved that song since all of us knows a "Marty's Mam" somewhere that we all miss very much.
4.- Oh what the heck... When are you guys playing Mexico?

Hi Gilberto
Thank you!
1. Yes indeed they did! But not all of em’! we have a lot o good Punk band mates!
2. YES, on to song 6 now!
3. Yes, Marty's mam is based on Marty's Mam strangely enough! Who sadly passed away a few years back.
4. Find us a good promoter and we will be there!

Hey Olga,
I was wondering if there's such a thing as Toy Dolls stickers? I have a motorbike and want to adorn it with some Toy Dolls !!!
Hope all's well with you and the rest of the lads
Alan Mills ( Al )

Alan Hi
Not at the moment, but we will get some done asap!

Hi Olga!
You′re awesome... I′m waiting for some show, here in Brazil, again! I′m sure that? will be a big party !!
What do you think? Please come to BR!!!

Rafa Hi
There will be a big party indeed!
Keep listening out for South American news! We will be back!

Hey Olga,
I, like many other fans online, have been really curious about the song “I can see you” which you performed in Japan 1992.

Hi Richie,
That song was written by ex Toy Dolls member Pete decades ago!
We may do it again at some point! We would love to finally get to Wales someday too!

hi Olga.
great show in Holland again. we saw you at Pedro Pico Pop.i go to your shows whenever i can but took my daughter of 8 to the show so she could see you live for her first time. we had a great time! we could see everything very good because we could stand in front...when Tommy saw us an suggested to my daughter to go and sit on the podium where she could sit much safer, our day could have not be better. she was much better there and could see everything very good and i had no worries about the people who could have fallen on her. so thanks to all you three guys we had a great time. but i want to thank Tommy in special for this night...he performs and also looks after his audience..keep it up guys!
greets preben

Cheers Preben!
Thank you. Yep, that was rather nice of Tommy!
No worries!
See ya next time!

MAY 2016

Why so few tour dates in the UK in recent years? What are your plans for UK gigs, especially the SW of England, in the future?
Cheerio and toodle pip
Matt from Cornwall, UK

Hi Matt
We just completed a UK tour a coupla years back, had great time, and we will be doing 2 UK shows in 2017
Hopefully more later!

Any plans to come to durham again?
Owen Mullen

Hi Owen, no Durham plans at the moment, but there will be a show in England in 2017, details soon!

Hi Olga. I must confess I've only just really discovered the greatness of the Toy Dolls. I'm the same age as you and have loved punk since I was a kid. I came across your last tour gig on YouTube last weekend and it was so positive, catchy and fun and cheered me right up! I play in a band out of Edinburgh called Heavy Drapes. We are going well and getting noticed. We are in vive le rock magazine next Tuesday on the cover CD. We are also doing Rebellion, skegness and thunder in the Glen with big country plus quite a few other gigs. Unfortunately our sudden good fortune had attracted a lot of negative rubbish from jealous trolls trying to actually destroy us - long story. Anyway that's why the Toy Dolls? cheered me up! I'm sorry I've left it so bloody late to listen! Keep on doing what you do. Check us out on sound cloud or summat if you're inclined. Oh yeah how does your tele sound so meaty?

Hi Jerry
I will check out Heavy Drapes ASAP!
My Tele has a Seymour Duncan Alnico bridge pick up, that helps a bit with the sustain/power.
Cheers and good luck

Hi Olga,
is there a chance to see (and of course hear) the Toy Dolls somewhere in or around Munich?
Best wishes
Josef Baumgartner

Josef Hi
There will be something at some point! We miss Germany, hopefully news soon!

Hello, I mail you from Japan.
I always enjoy The Toy Dolls Website.
It is amazing that OLGA manages Japanese extremely well (^_^)
I am shocked and know how fantastic his Japanese is!
Love the lyrics.
It gives me very happy feeling.
Thank you OLGA ARIGATO!!! (^o^)
Always enjoyable to hear The Toy Dolls MUSIC.
Kumiko from Osaka JAPAN

Kumiko Hi
Thank you! Though I had to practice Nihongo everyday for months to sing that song!
I really hope we can get back to Japan at some point, it’s been a long time!
Take care

Good Afternoon Olga,
I know The Toy Dolls only about two months now. And I wanted to say that there was never a guitar which blew me away like yours. Your Band is like a really awesome hommage to Punk, to guitar, to music and life.
I know I'm a fucking smart aleck. but I noticed that March the 23rd was a Wednesday. At least in Germany ;)
You've made my British ABC to an ABCD. Before I "met" The Toy dolls my favourite bands from UK were The Adicts, The Beatles and The "early" Clash. I liked to know, what do you think about these bands? (I don't reveal you, that number five is Robbie Williams. It is a bit embarrassing.)
I hope you'll rocking Germany soon, that I can see you live.
Greetz'n'Oi! from Germany
You'll never walk alone

Good Afternoon Fabian, thank you
We will be back in Germany at some point! We toured there about 2.5 years ago and it was amazing, cant wait to get back!

Hey Olga CANYA give us a heads up on tour dates venues countries etc for 2017? So cant wait to see you live.
Ta Tracy

Hey Tracy,
Our management are still concentrating on 2016 at the moment!
But there are 2 UK shows confirmed for 2017, Scotland Calling in April, and another show to be announced soon!

Greetings Olga from Green Bay, Wisconsin!
Have been a Toy Dolls fan since I was born practically, saw you guys in Chicago in the late 90's for my first live show ever, brilliant!
Am wondering if you guys are ever coming back to the midwest, we desperately need you here!!!

Greetings to Green Bay
I remember Chicago, had a great time there, we may be back if we can get enough money for USA work visas!

Hello Olga
This is David, Sunderland exile living in Wolverhampton, I was just wondering if you are planning on playing the West Midlands, ideally Wolverhampton, in the near future?

Hi David
There is ONE exclusive show in England in 2017, announcement soon!
Enjoy Wolverhampton!

Hi Olga,
I became a fan of the Toy Dolls last year after hearing your amazing solo on Ginger Wildheart's "Can't Drink You Pretty", and I love your playing! I've spent quite a while trying to work out how you do what you do, and after a very long time I managed to work out that guest solo - I videoed it and I may as well give you the link...
Anyway, my question is - who were your guitar influences? Your playing style doesn't really remind me of anyone else I've heard, it seems very unique and I wonder how you developed it and who you were listening to?
Thank you!

Thank you
Great stuff, oh and well done!
My main guitar influences are Mick Green & Chuck Berry, not so much in to long solo twiddely kinda stuff.
Hey, Ginger himself is vastly underrated guitar player!

I would like to know when will Toy Dolls perform in Portugal, preferably in Porto city? Maybe you could come for a summer festival or so.
In here we have good food, good weather, good beer...
Please keep Portuguese fans informed.

Hi to Portugal
I really hope we can get back to Portugal soon, Porto is a beautiful city and we had a rockin’ time there last time, too long ago!

Hi Olga,
A big THANK YOU for the wonderful evening yesterday in Praha. I saw the toy dolls last time when I was a student. This was back in 1993 in Innsbruck. Absurd world tour :-) I even found the 23 year old T-shirt with your autograph which I wore yesterday. Unfortunately I did not catch you after the show to get a 2nd autograph on this shirt...
You did not lose your energy over the years. How you can perform on stage like a twen is a myracle to me. Chapeau!!
The concert felt like a time-travel. Just great! Thank you so much!!
Cheers from Vienna

Hi Hannes
Thank you , Praha rocked!
In fact all 3 shows were amazing, great crowds!
It doesn’t get any easier though! Just takes more training, cycling, staying in shape etc!

Hi Olga,
Have loved the Toy Dolls since I was a tin lid At 15 we would love if you could come down here and tour many folks would come it would be worth your while. And never will we mess with Doughy bell but we love the Lambrusco please come and visit the convict colony

Dicko from the hybernators

Hi Dicko
Not sure where down here is, but we hope to get there! Australia I guess?
I really do hope it will happen before too long!

MARCH 2016

2 questions:
-How did you learn your awesome guitar skills?
-Will sometime the toy dolls play in mexico? we are eager to see you live

Hi Olga,
Are you looking forward to Prague on 30th April?
I can’t wait till this glorious eveningJ
Cheers Johnny from Prague

Hey Johnny
Of course, we love Prague, especially that venue, its one of the best!
See ya there!

My name is Richard
I think me and my friends are some of your biggest fans in Sweden.
Me and my sister and my friends has grown up with your/Toy Dolls wonderful voice since I was around 13 years old, I'm now 46.
I has been watching Toy Dolls just twice, first time was about 28 years ago in Stockholm and last time in Stockholm and both of the concerts was my best ever.
The only concert that was nearby was Ramones in Stockholm for a long time ago.
Toy Dolls are so great so my wife use to wake me up those times I has drinking a little bit to much in combination with an good mood on (this sound very strange) singing in my dreams, "Oh Olga I can not!!!"
Candra is me and my sisters? favourite song.
After a long introduction, now over to my question.
Me and my friends has booked in an trip to catch Toy Dolld in Prag, to see the probably best concert ever.
The problem is that my sisters man don't want/allow us to bring her to Prag.
Therefore I want some wise worlds from Olga that could help me in this important and specially case.?
Should I ask my sister to divorce from her man, they has been together in almost 20 years or do you have some good solution for me to bring her with me to Prag.
I don't want her to say; I can not, when I know she can.
I wish you a great weekend Olga!
Best Regards

Hi Richard
Thank you! We always enjoy Sweden!
I hope Candra can make it to Prague!
Cheers for being so loyal!
See ya in The Czech Republic!

Hello Olga!
I was in Winterthur Club Gaswerk (Switzerland) at my 13. The Toy Dolls concert on 8.April 2015. It was great, as always. For my girlfriend, it was the first time. Her liked it. It's nice to see again live The Toy Dolls. Thank you for allowing me to make another photo with you. It means a lot to me. It now hangs in my collection.
Greeting Roger Honegger :-)

Hi Roger
Thank you, Winterhur was great, a bit hot mind ya!
No problems on the photo! You Lot are the reason we are still performing!

Hi, Olga, my name is Samuel, from Switzerland and I am 13 years old. I have some questions:
1. Will you play in Switzerland sometime?
2. How did you get your music more known, how did you get contacts like people who are in the music business or so?
3. What age did you start to learn the guitar?
4. Do you like the Oi-Scene?
5. Do you like the german punk rock scene?
6. So, I have a solo project since I dont know everyone in my enviroment who likes punk music, could you please listen to my songs (links are on the bottom) and maybe give me a feedback? That would be great!
Also just wanted to mention for whatever reason that I will play at my fathers 60th birthday. My father said that a friend of he's was in a band and opened The Rolling Stones concert in Japan.
Thanks for answering the questions, cheers from Switzerland!

Hi Samuel
We love Switzerland, though we just toured there last year, so it may be while before we get back! Hopefully it will be soon, maybe a festival will happen!
Your Dad’s friend was very fortunate to open for the Rolling Stones in Japan, amazing!
In the beginning we played as many places as possible, begging venues to let us play! Really! trying to get supports slots to bigger bands, The Angelic Upstarts were a big help, for the first time we could tour nationally, thanks to supporting them!
Releasing our first album on Volume Records was a huge step too.
I started playing guitar when I was 14, and still learning now!
I will take a listen to your stuff! Looking forward!
Keep enjoying it all! That's whats its all about!

Could you tell me what is your favourite food . Thanks olga.
Sam smith

Sam Hi
Still is Cauliflower Cheese!

Do you guys will bring some of the beer to sell at the show in Antwerp (april 2016) ?
Or do i best buy it from the brewery?
It's an 1 year anniversary gift for my girl ;)
We come to the show, maybe she/we can meet you guys that would be awesome!!
Friendly greetings, Koen.

Hi Koen from Belgium!
Unfortunately, because of licensing laws, we cant sell the beer at shows, so yes, best to order direct from The Toy Dolls shop, http://www.cvuoc.icu/shop/shop.html

Hi Olga,
Massive fan of Toy Dolls!
Just have 2 short questions for you:
1.I recently created a band with a couple friends of mine from secondary (yr 8) and I just want to ask whether you have any tips on writing songs and such?
2.Any ideas of when the next Toy Dolls concert might be in London?
I'm crossing my fingers that my first concert will be A toy dolls one and so that's why I ask.
Currently showing my mates their first TDs song,

Muri Hi
1. Think “Melody” it is paramount! And ENJOY! Don't get discouraged, if songwriting was easy loads more people would do it!
2. London, oh! Not sure just yet! Keep checking the tour dates!

Hi Olga, how are you doing?
I'm a huge fan of Toy Dolls, and I'd like to say you are a big inspiration for me and my band. I even used part of the name as a tribute. xD
I've just recorded a few songs, I wish you could listen to them and tell me what you think about =)
They are really short, so if you have just a couple of minutes I'd be really happy
Huge thanks,

Hi Fausto,
I am fine thank you, I hope you are too.
Thank you for the links, I will get around to checking them over the next week or so!
Looking forward

Hi Olga
when can we see you in Portugal?
Ruben Elsa

Hi Ruben Elsa, I hope that Portugal will happen in 2016 at some point, we always have a wicked time there!
Nothing planned just yet, but its early days.
Take care

Hi Olga.
I've always believed the founding members were from Peterlee. Is this true?

Andrew hi, we are from Sunderland originally, I am from South Shields actually. We did play Peterlee a few times though!

Hey Olga,
I’m a girl from the Netherlands, my name is Lucija and I’m 16 years old.
My father was the lead singer from ‘’Boegies’’ a punk band from Groningen.
His name is Eddy, and he told me once that he went on a tour with you in the Netherlands.
My question is, did you liked it?
I’m a big fan of the Toy Dolls by the way.

Hi Lucija
Thank you!
Yeah, The Boegies were great, I remember the tour well, early 80’s!
Greetings to Eddy!
Hope to see you in Holland at some point!

Hi Olga,
Its Deccas sister (Shazza), I think this song is amazing. People thought it was in bad taste, however me and his other bandmates think it is geet funny, certainly anything but! None of us are offended by small minded people, who have slagged it off. This is Deccas true character, he is a lovable rogue and a very talented drummer who can still play drunk or sober. Thank you so much for doing this for him from Shazza and all Deccas family. Let us know when you are gigging locally and hopefully we can come and support you. I have also been watching Olga a cannot, which I immensely enjoyed. You are the best punk band I have seen, your singing and guitar talent is second to none.?
All the best
Shazza Wade Brooks

Shazza hi!
Thank you for your kind words!
We love Decca! Send him our regards when you see him!
Take care

Hi Olga, I have a few questions for you. Some are about music, some not. Here we go.
1. What was your favourite TV show as a kid?
2. Have you noticed a change in the Toy Dolls sound over your career?
3. What were the circumstances surrounding you becoming a punk and starting the Toy Dolls?
Scott Burton

Hi Scott
Good questions!
1. As a kid, mmm, Dr Who I reckon.
2. Not really! I still cant sing
3. Oh, being bullied at school as a big contribution! Then hearing Slade, The Sweet, Suzi Quatro, the early Dr Feelgood, Pirates, Pistols, Sham 69, The Jam etc… the list is endless
Punk broke down loadsa musical snobbery, meant that even I could be a singer!

Hi Olga!?
I'm almost 35 and I grew up with you guys thanks to my older brothers.
In my vinyl collection I even have an authentic single of Nellie the elephant, from 1984.
Now my question: I have seen on facebook that you are coming to Antwerp on the second of april, but I don't see any information about your concert on the site of TRIX or on the site where you should be able to get tickets: heartbreaktunes.com
Are you coming to Antwerp or is that not true and should I be very sad now?
Thanks any way (it should be great if you would answer this)
If you want, you can always make me happy by sending me a birthday card haha
That is on January 14th.
Have a great weekend!

Hi 35 year old Els!
Happy birthday for 14th January!
Yes, we are booked for Antwerp Trix for 2nd April!
I guess the Trix & Heartbreaktunes have been closed over the holidays, by the time you read this tickets should be available!

Hi Olga,
Is it true you guys are coming to Antwerp, Trix, April 2nd 2016 ?
I have seen this on facebook, but I can’t find it anywhere else.
Not on your website or on the Trix website.
When you guys are coming to Belgium are you planning on playing other gigs also ?
Can you help me out here ?

Hi Geoffrey,
We are booked for Antwerp Trix for April 2nd, let me know if you have any problem getting tickets by the time you read this!
This is the only show in Belgium planned.

Hey Olga man!
You my hero I love playing music and you and your band are huge inspiration to me.
Wondering what kinf of pick you use? Don't see guitar players use it a whole lot...
Hope that's where its at. ;)

Jakub hi
Thank you! It's a home made pick I use! Made from a normal pic with gaffa tape, so it clips on my finger, not so comfortable I can tell ya!
For solos in the studio I use a 5p (English coin)

Hi Olga, that’s one impressive list of live shows - looks like you’ve been almost everywhere…. except Canada. Come play in Toronto, I’ll take you boys down to have a peek at Niagara Falls.
If not I’ll have to come see you see you on one of your tours this year.

Hi Tim
I really hope we can get the Canada at some point!
And we wanna see Niagra Fall and all!
